Visual Defence Awarded Screening Upgrade Project at International Airport

03/25/2015

The project involves upgrading the baggage handling system to include additional inline screening to increase the capability of the airports automatic checked baggage inspection system. The addition allows the airport to improve the speed of baggage handling by implementing a multi-level in line machine with additional capacity hundreds of bags per hour.

Improvements are also being made to the carry-on screening process. Additional rollers and motorized rollers are being added to increase the carry-on baggage screening efficiency. The modifications make room for more travelers to organize and pick up their belongings after they are X-rayed. As the bottleneck in the passenger screening process, speeding up the baggage pickup allows more bags to be screened.

This airport is expected to see a jump in passenger numbers in the coming years due to additional airlines that are planning to introduce routes to the airport. These upgrades will help the airport continue to run smoothly even with the increased capacity.
